Hot chocolate!

Hot chocolate!

On this day in 1886, Villa’s directors decided that the club’s colours should be chocolate and blue.

During the club’s formative years, players had worn a number of different coloured shirts, including black and red.

But the chocolate and blue switch was a move back towards the shirts the players are believed to have worn in their first season and from 1887 the colours which have made Villa famous worldwide were established on a permanent basis – albeit initially claret and blue quarters!
