On this day in 1941, Tony Hateley was born in Derby.

Hateley joined Villa from Notts County at the start of the 1963-64 campaign and for the following three seasons he was the club’s leading scorer, including 27 in 1965-66, when he was on target four times as Villa hit back from 5-1 down to draw 5-5 at Tottenham. He scored a total of 86 goals in 148 games before moving to Chelsea for £100,000 in October 1966.
