Victory at White Hart Lane

Victory at White Hart Lane

On this day in 1994, Villa reached the League Cup semi-finals for a record ninth time with a 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

Around 5,500 fans made the trip to London on a rain-swept night and they were rewarded by an outstanding performance against in-form Spurs.

Ray Houghton opened the scoring with a low cross-shot in the 58th minute, and although Darren Caskey equalised six minutes later, only another five minutes elapsed before right-back Earl Barrett headed the winner with his first goal for the club.
