Aston Villa Foundation Aston Villa Foundation Learning & Transition Manager 

£26,000 per annum
(35 hours per week, fixed-term 2 years) 

The Learning and Transition Manager will oversee a new project funded by the Zurich Community Trust, which will deliver a short-term employability initiative and health-based Apprenticeship programme and to target young people not in education, employment or training from inner-city Birmingham. 

In addition, the job holder will be the strategic lead to build capacity within the area of employability and alternative education, working alongside other Foundation departments to maximise the positive journey for participants across our programmes.

Key responsibilities

  • To plan, deliver and coordinate an employability and functional skills programme for NEET young people aged 18-21
  • Offer pathways into apprenticeships for NEET young people from inner-city Birmingham, working with staff within Aston Villa Foundation and other key partners and stakeholders
  • Develop a referral and recruitment process that will have a clear focus on preparing young people for any apprenticeship but with a specific emphasis on working within the Health and Fitness industry or a Football Club Community Organisation
  • Oversee an apprenticeship programme which will see young people deliver a variety of activities to help reduce social isolation, poor health outcomes and health inequalities in older people
  • Ensure that all apprentices complete two entry level accreditations and further training and development courses for their professional development
  • Mentor the apprentices through their programme and provide support into further education and employment once completed

Essential skills and experience required

  • Teaching-based qualification and experience in delivery and assessment of apprentices, trainees and entry level courses
  • Experience of planning and delivering successful employability programmes
  • Experience of delivering apprenticeship programmes, including working with funding partners
  • Experience of working with hard to reach young people
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to connect with hard to reach individuals

Aston Villa Foundation Health & Wellbeing Officer 

£22,981 per annum
(35 hours per week, fixed-term 2 years) 

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Health and Wellbeing Officer to join the new Health and Wellbeing department at Aston Villa Foundation. 

The successful candidate will be required to lead health-based delivery projects to targeted groups within the community, specifically over 50s, whilst using the brand of Aston Villa as a vehicle to engage and make a difference. 

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Health and Wellbeing Manager in establishing a partnership group to identify and plan activities for older people
  • Lead delivery on assigned projects within the Health & Wellbeing portfolio
  • Support the Health and Wellbeing Manager in ensuring timetabling is completed and deliver a comprehensive weekly programme of activities targeting the most isolated older people in our community
  • Deliver events to increase awareness of the programme and recruit new partners and participants
  • Support and supervise a small team of apprentices whilst on session, providing regular, structured feedback to the apprentices and Learning and Transition Manager
  • Mentor apprentices to improve their abilities and confidence to play an active and lead role in the delivery of activities for older people
  • Supported by the Health & Wellbeing Manager, implement a monitoring and evaluation framework alongside key stakeholders
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of projects, including recording of attendance statistics, case studies, evidence, and impact including monthly and quarterly reports to funding partners

Essential skills and experience required

  • Experience of delivering health-related intervention programmes
  • Experience of using sport and/ or physical activity as a vehicle to improve health and wellbeing
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to connect with targeted groups
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a range of partners for common goals
  • The ability to develop and implement high quality, varied and creative projects and activities
  • The ability to work under own initiative and be pro-active in driving project activities forward

Aston Villa Foundation Health & Wellbeing Manager

An exciting new funded position has arisen for an experienced health professional to join the growing Aston Villa Foundation. 

The successful candidate will oversee a new department which will include a new funded Development Officer and a funded health based programme for over 50s. 

The candidate will be responsible for developing the portfolio of projects supported by the Programmes Manager and wider Senior Management Team.

Key responsibilities

  • To develop close partnerships with local health and wellbeing service providers and deliver initiatives and programmes that impact on the health and wellbeing of our communities
  • To develop and deliver tailored health and wellbeing initiatives that tackle health and wellbeing issues in a variety of community settings
  • To support the Programmes Manager in identifying and securing external funding opportunities that support health and wellbeing initiatives
  • Financial management and monitoring and evaluation of funded projects and initiatives including providing impact reports where required
  • Establish a partnership group to identify and plan activities for health and wellbeing programmes – specifically for older people
  • Work with partner agencies to identify the most isolated and vulnerable adults within our local community
  • To timetable and deliver a comprehensive weekly programme of activities targeting the most isolated older people in our community

Essential skills and experience required

  • Experience of delivering health related programmes
  • Knowledge of public health models and methods to improve health outcomes in communities
  • Ability to interpret health data for impact and evaluation purposes
  • Experience in designing and delivering health initiatives to address specific health issues in communities
  • Experience of leading and working in a multi-agency and partnership setting to deliver shared objectives
  • Experience of identifying and securing funding opportunities to support service delivery
