Matchday Security

£9.53 per hour
Part time, variable hours (first team home games, including weekends and evenings)

Aston Villa Football Club are currently recruiting for Matchday Security to join our Security team.  Based at Villa Park, the successful candidates will play a vital role in creating a safe and enjoyable matchday experience for our customers in and around the stadium.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Attending briefings with Senior Security prior to matches
  • Providing a Matchday Security presence to various locations at Villa Park including gates, entrance doors, car parks and other locations as directed by the appropriate Senior Security Officer.
  • Providing a high level of customer service in a friendly and courteous manner including checking identity and authorisation to enter the stadium
  • To perform searches of individuals and bags when required
  • Controlling queues and the ability to address any issues and disorder promptly and performing ejections if necessary
  • Managing any conflict that arises from enforcement of ground regulations in a calm and professional manner, escalating issues to the Senior Security Officer as necessary
  • Completing incident forms for all incidents and passing to the Senior Security Officer

Skills and experience required:

  • Must be 18 years of age or over due to legislation
  • SIA accreditation or working towards this qualification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work under pressure
  • A highly customer focused approach

Senior Kit and Equipment Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, committed and dynamic individual to join Aston Villa Football Club as a Senior Kit and Equipment Manager. 

Based at the Training Ground, the Kit and Equipment team are responsible for the end-to-end kit cycle including washing, drying, folding and putting away kits from training and matches. 

As the Senior Kit and Equipment Manager, you will be responsible for proactively managing our Kit and Equipment Team on a day to day basis and have overall responsibility for the First Team, Academy players, management and staff kit requirements ensuring that all kit is correct and ready within strict deadlines. 

Please note that the post holder will also be required to work all first team home and away fixtures including FA/UEFA matches as required, as well as training camps and matches abroad, taking responsibility for ensuring that all match kits are clean and readily available for each match and training session. 

This will involve working long and unusual hours on occasions, including weekends. 

Key responsibilities

  • Design, build, implement and manage a new kit inventory management business process and enable systems that encompass kit allocation policy, kit requirement forecasting, order creation, delivery scheduling, printing process liaison, kit distribution and stock management
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the club’s Retail Manager to ensure kit provision is within free kit allowance requirements
  • Accountable for the complete end-to-end kit inventory management process by maintaining efficient kit stock levels and undertaking monthly stock checks
  • Organise kit distribution and ensure returns are accounted for by communicating the kit requirements of all squads (including the Ladies Team) to your team and preparing a timeline plan for each squad in order that each task is completed efficiently and on time
  • On a daily basis you will be required to oversee the preparation of all squad and staff kits, ensuring they have everything they need for training - this will require efficient communication on a regular basis to check their requirements for training each day
  • Prepare a monthly/weekly Kit and Equipment Department staff rota
  • Provide advice and guidance by working alongside the Assistant Kit & Equipment Manager ensuring the right quantities and sizes are ordered in good time, but ensuring overstocking is monitored

Essential skills and experience required

  • Excellent team management and resource allocation experience
  • Experience of working an inventory management role 
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the club and build strong working relationships with First Team manager, coaches and Kit & Equipment Team to ensure the Kit & Equipment department is operating at a high-performance level
  • Prepared to work flexibly with irregular hours, and take annual leave during the football close season/international break
  • Ability to demonstrate proactivity and suggest new ways of working to make the Kit & Equipment Team even more effective
  • A good level of Microsoft Office in particular Excel

Groundsperson 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Groundsperson to work within our Grounds team, based at the Training Ground.  

The role will be part of a strong team to ensuring the pitches are prepared to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

  • Pitch preparation and maintenance to a high standard of the natural and artificial pitch surfaces including as appropriate
  • Grass cutting, marking out, re-seeding, re-turfing, spraying of chemicals, fertilisers, verti-cutting, brushing
  • Control of irrigation and heating systems
  • General maintenance of workshop and machinery, ensuring that all tools and equipment are stored safely and securely when not in use and are maintained in good working order
  • Compliance with statutory record keeping and internal procedures relating to pitch preparation and maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with rules, policies and procedures at all times as defined by the FA Premier League, UEFA or any other football body or authority with which we must comply

Essential skills and experience required

  • NVQ Level 2 horticulture or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in working on championship/premiership pitches is desirable PA spraying experience 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and be self-driven within a team structure 
  • Experience of working in a sporting club environment is desirable 
  • Be self-motivated with a mature, positive attitude
  • The ability to multitask and prioritise appropriately

Youth Development Phase Coach 

Part time (including evenings and weekends) 
Fixed term contract until 31st May 2019

Aston Villa Football Club Academy are looking to recruit a self motivated, committed, confident and enthusiastic individual to join the Academy in the role of a part-time Youth Development Phase Coach.  

Working in a high-quality learning environment and based on the club's Football Philosophy as directed by the Academy Manager and Head of Coaching, the coach will play an important role in helping to nurture and develop the club's young players through the Youth Development Phase.

The coach will be required to liaise with the Academy Manager, Head of Coaching and Lead Phase Coach to ensure all areas highlighted in the job description are fulfilled, in order to ensure the successful development and progression of the club’s players through the Youth Development Phase. 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To have the ability to work effectively within a high-quality learning and teaching environment
  • To have the ambition and desire to be an excellent Youth Development Phase Coach
  • To adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to ensure the wellbeing and holistic development of the Youth Development Phase Players
  • To attend, supervise and deliver coaching/teaching sessions as stipulated by the Head of Coaching and Lead Phase Coach
  • To deliver and evaluate an elite level of coaching/teaching while working within the club's coaching philosophy and framework
  • Help to prepare, deliver and record players' individual learning plans
  • Working closely with various Academy departments and using a multi-disciplinary approach help to prepare, deliver and record the players six-weekly reviews
  • To ensure that all the relative administration is completed and kept up-to-date
  • To attend the relevant Football Association/Premier League/Football League and Aston Villa CPD events
  • To take responsibility for their own learning and to keep up to date with modern trends and developments within the young player age bands that they are working
  • Maintain your highest UEFA Coaching Licence plus any other relevant qualifications and awards
  • To establish positive working relationships and high standards of behaviour with players, staff, parents and schools
  • To have excellent communication skills
  • To adhere to the club Codes of Conduct
  • To ensure the club's philosophy, culture, values and vision are communicated and adhered to at all times
  • Help to ensure the Academy is continually achieving the standards required to retain its category status within the EPPP guidelines

  • A clear understanding, knowledge and experience of the EPPP environment
  • Competent IT skills
  • Maintain membership of the FA Licence Coaching Club
  • A clean driving licence

  • FA Advanced Youth Award

  • Playing experience at a good standard
