Ladies Manager

Fixed Term (Part time, variable hours during the evenings, weekends and matchdays) 

Aston Villa Football Club has an exciting opportunity for a Ladies Manager to be an integral part of the future growth of the Ladies team.  

Currently playing in the Women's Super League 2, this role will provide an excellent opportunity to work within a vibrant club with excellent facilities at both The Recon Training Complex and Boldmere St Michaels. 

Key responsibilities

  • To manage all on and off field football activities for the first team
  • To ensure that all players and staff are provided with coaching and support to enable them to compete and perform at the highest level
  • To ensure we have a competitive squad of players with a desire to succeed to their fullest potential
  • To be responsible for the recruitment and selection of players
  • To interact with the Girls Football Academy and Regional Talent Club 
  • In partnership with General Manager, ensure that all expenditure falls within the allocated annual budget
  • In conjunction with the General Manager negotiate all clearances and player registrations in accordance with appropriate FA and League rules
  • Ensure the club's policies and standards are adhered to
  • Maintain positive relations and regular contact with key England International staff
  • Represent the club at relevant League Competition Meetings

Essential skills and experience required

  • UEFA A Licence holder
  • FA Licensed Coach (Member of the Licensed Coaches Club to cover safeguarding and first aid)
  • Qualified FA Tutor is desirable 
  • A proven track record in a managerial football position, delivering strong performance and results through outstanding leadership 
  • A proven ability to identify, recruit and develop talent 
  • Coach mentoring experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build meaningful, strong strategic relationships with club staff
  • Understanding of learning, development and high performance with a proven ability to create optimum learning environments for players
  • Track record of consistent high performance in a professional environment
  • A good understanding of budget and expenditure controls
  • An understanding of the FA Women’s and Girl's player pathway
  • Resilience and ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to travel independently
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required

Senior Partnerships Manager 

(Maternity Cover up to 12 months) 

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, Senior Partnerships Manager to work within our Partnerships Team, based at Villa Park.  

We’re a driven commercial team that possesses the hunger to be better than the next commercial team in sport and we will push the boundaries with any resource available to us.

You will need to take a 360° approach to account management, including; developing strong relationships, defining partnership objectives, delivering a schedule of successful activations across multiple platforms and ultimately ensure ROI for all accounts. 

Your focus will be partnership performance. You will be responsible for managing the services team, setting a high working standard, evidencing activation success and informing the way in which we work, by taking an analytical approach to internal data and the wider industry practises.

Key responsibilities

  • To lead the Partnership Services team and ensure a high performing culture that achieves the vision set out above 
  • Deliver a full partnership programme that considers and ultimately supports the partnership acquisition cycle
  • Ensure team own, maintain and develop key partner accounts
  • Ensure the efficiency and profitability margins are being tracked and monitored per partner
  • Report regularly and effectively to the CCO to ensure all partner accounts are being successfully managed, rights are utilised and relationship with the partner remains strong 
  • Take responsibility that all contractual rights are fulfilled and escalate challenges as appropriate
  • Create and manage an annual plan of all Partner activity that is integrated and communicated across other departments at the Club
  • Develop the roadmap for Partner activity, ensuring that they meet fan expectations and continue to evolve in line with industry changes and internal strategic developments
  • Work with partner to develop partnership activation plans that support and integrate with their overall brand and marketing objectives
  • Ensure Partners derive maximum value and business benefits from their investment
  • Work with playing side to develop a strong working relationship so as to deliver contractual commitments around access to first team players and managers  
  • Coordination with key stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure day-to-day maintenance of accounts is conducted in an efficient and timely manner
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to pool, monitor and audit the performance of partner visibility, fan sentiment and engagement
  • Track activations, demonstrate successes and provide constructive feedback to internal and external stakeholders
  • Design and carry out surveys to track fan sentiment and awareness
  • Analyse survey data and prepare reports of data findings for internal and external stakeholders 
  • Research and provide sector and competitor benchmarking
  • Lead quarterly, mid-season and end of season reviews 
  • Develop a series of partner events to engage the full roster, this may include; partner dinner, networking and an industry forum for knowledge share 
  • Stay up to date with evolving digital platforms owned by AVFC to understand how Partners can be integrated 
  • Ensure that all home match days are adequately resourced to support Partner activity, for example hosting Partner guests, joining stadium tours or managing on-pitch half time activation
  • Create awareness amongst the Club of the roster of Partners

Essential skills and experience required

  • Experience of managing a team
  • Experience of managing multiple client accounts
  • A degree or equivalent in a quantitative subject or a related discipline
  • Experience in sponsorship or marketing account management
  • Event management experience 
  • Ability to manage a P&L
  • CRM deployment and management 
  • Strong understanding of media analysis
  • An understanding or experience of modelling, data management, information systems
  • Understanding of media evaluations, autonomation, anonamalysed matching
  • Process driven with strong analytical and research skills
  • Able to work to tights deadlines and manage multiple projects within timescales

Aston Villa Football in the Community Coach 

Fixed Term until 31st May 2019
(Variable hours during the evenings, weekends and school holidays) 

Due to continued growth, Aston Villa Football in the Community coaching opportunities have arisen for sessional work within the department. 

The post holders will be a minimum FA Level 2, coaches and responsible for delivering high quality coaching across a wide range of Football in the Community programmes, supporting the transition from informal football through to structured coaching programmes.

Key responsibilities 

To deliver high quality and relevant coaching across all tiers of the agreed player pathway including: -

School Football Extra Curricular Activities
Football Soccer Schools
Skills Centres
Player Development Centres
Partner Club Coaching
Gifted and Talented Events

To produce and evaluate session plans for all activities
To carry out risk assessments and report any incidents /accidents to the line manager immediately
Ensuring central records of sessions are kept including attendance registers, health and safety forms

Essential skills and experience required

  • Minimum FA Level 2 coaching qualification
  • UEFA B Licence Coach desirable
  • Up to date Emergency Aid certificate
  • Up to date Safe Guarding Children certificate
  • Proven experience working in a football development/advanced coaching environment
  • Ability to plan sessions and creating structured coaching plans
  • Ability to delivering income generated projects
  • Experience of working in a community environment is desirable 
  • Knowledge of the Football Player Pathway 
  • Knowledge of grassroots football in and around Birmingham
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional motivational skills, with an ability to inspire and lead a team
  • Resilience and ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to be flexible with work duties and hours as required
  • A full driving license valid in the UK is essential

Aston Villa Foundation Health & Wellbeing Practitioner 

(Variable hours, including evenings and weekends)  
(Fixed Term until 31st May 2019) 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health and Wellbeing Practitioner to join the new Health and Wellbeing department at Aston Villa Foundation. 

The successful candidate will be required to lead health-based delivery projects to targeted groups within the community, including over 50s, whilst using the brand of Aston Villa as a vehicle to engage and make a difference. 

Key responsibilities

  • To support the Health and Wellbeing team in delivering a comprehensive weekly programme of activities targeting the most isolated older people in our community, through adapted sports and activities to promote core stability such as Chair based exercise, Circuit sessions, games based activities for example BOCCIA and Indoor bowls
  • Lead the delivery of adapted sports and core stability activities for people aged 65+ in a range of community and care home settings and environments across Birmingham
  • Support measuring the impact of the project amongst older people through health based assessments on a quarterly basis covering mental, social, relationship and physical wellbeing
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of projects, including recording of attendance statistics, case studies, evidence, and impact including monthly and quarterly reports to funding partners
  • Deliver and support health and wellbeing related activities

Essential skills and experience required

  • Educated to a degree level is desirable 
  • NGB qualification is desirable 
  • Activity or fitness instructor qualification is desirable 
  • Experience of delivering health-related intervention programmes
  • Experience of using sport and/or physical activity as a vehicle to improve health and wellbeing
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to connect with targeted groups
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a range of partners for common goals
  • The ability to develop and implement high quality, varied and creative projects and activities
  • The ability to work under own initiative and be pro-active in driving project activities forward
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation including best practice in sport and health
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required
