Stat: When did we last win eight league games in a row?

Our superb 2018 form has seen us match some long-standing records over the last few weeks, and victory this weekend against Fulham would mean the same again.

A seven-game winning run was equalled for first time since 1990 on Sunday, and we now have our sights set on an eighth successive league win.

Should we come away with all three points from Craven Cottage, it will be the first time we have done so since the 1974/75 campaign.

Back then, we finished in our current position of second in the Division Two table – winning promotion to the top flight.

Under the guidance of Ron Saunders, we overcame West Bromwich Albion, Millwall, Cardiff City, Oldham Athletic, Blackpool, Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland and Norwich City in our final eight games of the season, finishing as runners-up to Manchester United.

Fast forward 43 years, and we're gunning for promotion to English football's summit once again, and looking to emulate that eight-match winning streak.

We've already repeated one previous promotion feat this term – winning 5-0 on New Year's Day, as we did in 1988, to eventually get back to the big time.
