Emile Heskey has chosen Stiliyan Petrov as the most talented professional he played with at Aston Villa.
Heskey was asked to select his all-time Villan as part of the ‘Ask Me Anything’ feature series and picked out our former skipper.
Petrov joined us in September 2006 for £6.5m from Celtic and went on to become one of the most influential midfielders of modern times in claret and blue.
Heskey certainly was a fan as he spoke glowingly of the man they call Stan.
He told us: “Stan was loved here – but I think he was underrated elsewhere.
“It wasn’t just for what he did on the pitch, he was brilliant off the pitch too - a great guy.
“He had unbelievable ability – just look at his goal at Derby from the half-way line? Not many players would have even thought to do that, let alone executed it.
“But great player, great guy – and real family man.”
