Suliman: My joy after England U19s glory

Easah Suliman admitted being in dreamland after he helped England win the European U19s Championships.

The Young Lions replicated the country’s older age group to claim glory on the international stage this summer, after the U20s won the World Cup in Korea previously.

The U19s did the business in Georgia with goals from our very own Suliman and Manchester City’s Lukas Nmecha.

Suliman handed England the lead when heading home a rebound after Mason Mount’s free-kick hit the post.

I feel unbelievable. To bring the trophy home is surreal. Easah Suliman
Chelsea right-back Dujon Sterling then volleyed into his own net to level the scores, before Nmecha tapped home from Mount’s centre for 2-1.

Suliman was thrilled on the final whistle.

He said: “I feel unbelievable.

“To bring the trophy home is surreal. I still can’t believe it.

“The moment the referee’s whistle went up to his mouth I knew we had done it.

“I have already got a lot of messages of congratulations from the lads and coaches at Villa. It means a lot to me.

“I am overwhelmed by the achievement.

“I am already focused on the coming season now, too. My aim is to push on and make an impact.”
